1. Q. What does it cost to join Trailblazers?
A. Nothing. Simply fill in a membership form when you next compete at a Trailblazers show centre or you can register on line.
2. Q. What is my membership number?
A. Once you have filled in the registration form, you will be allocated a membership number and given a membership card on which it appears.
3. Q. Do I need to re-register each year?
A. No once you have registered you do not need to register again, even if you go to a different centre or buy a new horse, it is the rider who is registered. However, if you change your address, please let us know. Email: trailblazers@beta.int.com
4. Q. What show jumping classes does Trailblazers run?
A. There are four height classes for seniors 75cms, 85cms, 95cms, 1.05cms, 1.10cms & 1.15cms. For Juniors Trailblazers runs 65cms, 75cms, 95cms and 1.05cms. We also run a 12 years and under 65cms class. Please check with each centre which ones they run.
5. Q. What dressage classes does Trailblazers run?
A. Preliminary, novice and elementary at junior and senior levels. Please check with the centres as to which classes they are running.
6. Q. What showing classes does Trailblazers run?
A. A full range of ridden and in-hand classes, and working hunter. Please check each centre's schedule.
7. Q. How do I enter a Trailblazers competition?
A. Find your local centre via the Centres button and check what disciplines and classes are available. You can register with Trailblazers at the Centre on the day of the show.
8. Q. How do I qualify for a second round in show jumping?
A. A double clear in any height class qualifies you at that level.
9. Q. How do I qualify for a second round in dressage?
A. Combinations scoring 58% and over will qualify for the second round at that level.
10. Q. How do I qualify for a second round in showing?
A. Combinations placed in the first three in each first round class qualify for second rounds.
11. Q. What do I do when I have qualified for a second round?
A. You will be given a congratulations letter informing you that you have qualified. If you choose to take up the qualification, you should fill in and return the letter along with £12 and two stamped addressed envelopes. One envelope will be used to return your qualification card and the other will be used by the centre to forward details of their second round.
12. Q. Do I have to compete at the same centre for the second round as I did the first round?
A. No, you can compete at any centre for your second round and enter as many second rounds as you wish at as many centres as you wish. Each centre runs only one second round, but they must have run the first rounds for that discipline in order to run a second round.
13. Q. Does every centre run a second round?
A. Yes, every centre runs one second round at each level if they have run first rounds in that discipline at that level.
14. Q. How does another centre know I have qualified?
A. Just take your qualification card with you to show them - but don't leave it behind you will need it again if you attend another Second Round.
15. Q. Where are the Trailblazers Championships held?
A. Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire (formerly the Royal Showground).
16. Q. How do I qualify for the championships?
A. You qualify for the Finals at the second rounds. Numbers to qualify from each class will be notified at the publicatiion of the 2nd round dates. (The number is subject to the number of centres running Trailblazers that year)
17. Q. I have just bought/sold a pony that has qualified for Trailblazers. What happens to the qualification?
A. Once a partnership ceases, the qualification ceases. Only qualified partnerships from the second rounds can compete at the championships.
18. Q. Why can't I jump my pony in senior classes?
A. For health and safety reasons because of the different stride lengths of horses and ponies.
19. Q. I have registered my horse with British Dressage. Does this mean I cannot compete at Trailblazers?
A. You can still compete at Trailblazers. Horses that are currently registered with British Dressage or have been registered within the preceding 12 months are not allowed to compete at preliminary level with any BD points, novice level with more than 60 points or elementary level with more than 100 points.
20. Q. I have registered my horse with the BSJA. Can I compete at Trailblazers?
A. Yes you can compete at Trailblazers but no currently registered JA ponies and grades A or B horses may compete at the championships.
21. Q. My son who is 13 has just bought a 15hh horse. Which show jumping class does he compete in?
A. Riders 13 years and over may ride horses over 148cms in senior classes on or after their 13th birthday.
22. Q. When does my son/daughter become a senior in dressage?
A. A junior is someone who has not attained their 17th birthday on the first day of that year's championships.
23. Q. I have qualified for second rounds at prelim 7 and prelim 10, do I need two qualification cards?
A. No, one card will suffice as you have qualified at preliminary level. The same one-card-per-level applies in show jumping.
24. Q I have qualified at two levels of show jumping/dressage. Do I need two qualification cards?
A. Yes, if you choose to take up qualification for different levels (classes), you need a qualification card for each level (class). Please note that the junior 65cms and the under 12 years 65cms are two different classes.
25. Q. Can I enter my colt for a Trailblazers showing show?
A. Yes, by he must be led by a handler aged 16 or over. Also note that youngstock will not be eligible for qualification until after 1st January of the current championship year. This is to ensure youngstock ages are correct at the championships.
26. Q. Can professional producers enter Trailblazers showing classes?
A. Trailblazers showing was developed primarily with amateurs in mind, so competitors are asked to enter in that spirit. Show organisers reserve the right to refuse an entry without giving a reason.
